Education is a great asset. Knowledge has never changed as quickly as it does today. It is therefore important to always be “up to date”.
What are the advantages of knowledge?
Knowledge primarily creates security. Having to do jobs for which the necessary knowledge is missing takes much more time and the susceptibility to errors is significantly higher. If, on the other hand, the relevant knowledge is available that the employee can rely on, the solution can be found and implemented quickly.
For a career, knowledge means that superiors pay homage to and appreciate the skills of their employees and that their work quality is consistently high. If group or team management positions are then newly filled, employees are often used who have already shone with their specialist knowledge in the past and have satisfactorily solved complex problems.
Employees who are keen to learn are also happy to receive further training because they have made it clear that they appreciate active learning and can actively apply knowledge. They are also more likely to be able to provide proof of performance such as exams.
Learning can be forgotten
Indeed, a person can unlearn how to learn effectively. The longer it was back to school, training, or studies, the more difficult it becomes to deal with new content and to acquire it. By the way, learning was never as easy as it is today. Access to knowledge is more diverse than ever and is open to everyone. Podcasts enable learning even when you are out and about or doing sports. Online courses no longer require travel, and often they don’t even cost a lot. Distance learning is also one of the new training and further education opportunities.
It is much easier for autodidacts to find jobs today because knowledge is now valued more than certificates. Of course, this does not apply to activities in which legal regulations determine a qualification, but especially in the creative area, in IT, and some craft professions, reference projects can sometimes be more convincing than a certificate of attendance.
Learning for private life
Lifelong learning is beneficial even for private purposes. Cooking courses, language apps, and virtual trainers for driving help to make your own life varied, healthy, or safer. Those who are mentally active can even prevent diseases such as dementia or live better with them. Memory training, optimizing the ability to react, and learning languages are, for example, courses that are even offered specifically for seniors. To use these, however, requires to be in the learning process.
